Allo all,

First I want to thank Ira for getting this site/forum going. It's been
a huge help in getting me educated on ordering glasses online and
weeding out the bad from the good (or depending on you ask the not so
bad hah).

After looking over a lot of sites, reviews, posts, frames, etc. I
decided the first site I was gonna give a try was Eyebuydirect. I'll
cut to the chase and skip what I thought about the site and all that
but I will at least say out of all the sites I've seen theirs is
definitely one of the better ones.

I ordered a simple pair of metal/plastic frames (Olympus) for $7.95
with default lenses. I wanted to try the cheapest they had just to be
careful and see what even the lowest priced frames were like in terms
of quality/construction. I think it took about 2-3 weeks to get my
order, I have to admit I was a bit nervous when I opened up the box
but after trying them on I gave a sigh of relief and felt pretty damn
pleased with my new glasses that cost me a whopping $11.95 total. The
prescription as far as I can tell is dead on, the lenses are clear and
don't feel/look cheap. The frames themselves were a bit on the small
side (my own fault) but I can still wear them (wearing them now
actually) without any discomfort. So far they feel sturdy enough, they
don't look like they are gonna fall apart any time soon but time will
be the true test of that. Overall Eyebuydirect turned out to be an
excellent experience, I only wish they had a little more variety in
plastic frames (I'm not big on bits, bling, or stripes/patterns when
it comes to glasses).

The day after I placed my order at Eyebuydirect I stumbled onto LBW
Eyewear, now I don't know too much about LBW except for where they are
located. I found some positive reviews a few not so positive reviews
scattered around and decided to take a chance and order myself another
pair. I had found exactly what I was looking for (and on sale to
boot!) with some solid black plastic frames listed as GFAP-50030. The
only concern I had was the total width since I wasn't too sure if they
would turn out to be a little small also but they turned out to be
perfect, almost identical in size to my old $400 Armani glasses that
I've had for 6+ years. The prescription again, no problems whatsoever,
frames feel solid and sturdy and don't look ultra cheap (even though
technically they are hehe), I also spent the extra $4.95 to get the
Anti-Reflection coating which was recommended on another thread I
found here. LBW overall has a really nice selection of frames, some
really odd/interesting ones too with designs on the sides and cool
color combos. The only things I'd like to see LBW improve on is their
communication and follow up information after you've placed an order.
You get a single receipt with the usual info and that's about it. No
graphics, no links, no order status, just a long distance number
(unless you live in the 415 area) and that's it until you get your
shipping notice. Other than that, the site itself isn't the best I've
seen but it's clean and easy to navigate, has all the info you'd want
to see regarding each frame, large-sized pics of every frame from
different angles, etc. It would be nice if they had it so you could do
a search by size/color though.

So all in all I guess I lucked out and this saved me a good hunk of
change and definitely helped me out a great deal replacing my old
glasses. It's so nice to be able to see clearly again and without
having to shell out loads of cash on overpriced brand stamped glasses.
Granted it's not for everybody, and you do have to do your homework
before ordering. I took my time and found out everything I could even
though I wasn't spending much.

Thanks for reading,
CMR in California
