Hi there! I am SO glad that I found GlassyEyes, and thankful that Ira is helping spread the revolution!
A friend recently had a good experience with Zenni, and told me about it, so I started shopping around. My prescription is as follows: Right: Sphere -8.75 Cylinder -0.25 Axis 090 Add +2.50 Left: Sphere -6.75 Cyllinder -1.25 Axis 100 Add +2.50 (am I blind, or what?!?) I'm looking for progressives, and found a great pair at Zenni. HOWEVER, after placing my order, I received a very prompt email from their lab (kudos to them for being so prompt!), telling me that my prescription was "too strong" to fit into the rimless frames I had chosen. They suggested a full rim frame (and even gave me the numbers of a couple frames they thought would work), and asked that I get back to them. I called back a couple days later, and advised them of my frame choice. The customer service rep was very friendly, made sure that I understood that the frame I was choosing had a "floating lens", and explained that my credit card would be credited for the outstanding amount. (The first frame I had chosen was a $45.95 titanium; my second choice was at $8 plastic). Two days later I received an email from the lab providing me with the revised total, the amount of credit to my credit card, and a transaction number for the credit. Wow... Then I contacted 39Dollarglasses and enquired whether they could fit my prescription into a rimless frame. They responded very promptly and advised that it would not be a problem.....so, you guessed it, I ordered a pair of glasses from them too! But, the frames aren't "funky" like I wanted, so I kept shopping. Now I find Clearly Lenz, and some truly funky frames that I love. I emailed them my prescription, and was advised that they also could fit my prescription into either rimless or semi-rimless frames. They also suggested their thinnest lenses (1.74 index) for my prescription. They also noted that my prescription appeared "off" (I had mistakenly entered -.025 rather than -0.25).....good catch! Some places (like Zenni) are unable to fit my prescription into a frame which has a lens height less than 32mm; other places have no problem. My current frames have a lens height of 25mm. So, orders are in with Zenni and 39Dollarglasses, and I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my glasses. Since the glasses at ClearlyLenz are going to be more expensive, I'm saving up for a little while first before ordering. I have to say, so far I've been very impressed with the communication from all 3 companies....let's wait to see what the glasses are like! --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Check us out at the oft-updated http://glassyeyes.blogspot.com!
