A bifocal on one side and single vision on the other side is actually
a very handy thing for people that need to see where their feet are
going and do occasional close work.
i.e. hikers and fisherman and golfers, that need to see maps and
hooks and score cards.

This has been one need that seems to be driving me to shop in a
storefront where they can deal with this common but custom variation.
I am hoping someone can tell me I am wrong.

I was just going to place an order on the sale at EBD, which seemed to
allow this variation. After all I am willing to pay full price for
half a bifocal. So I checked bifocals, entered ADD in one lens, left
the other as no ADD, and they even gave the option for 70-30% which I
want minimal area for the bifocal, so that was good, and I even added
an explanation comment. It all seemed smooth.

But when I hit submit it wouldn't take it without BOTH ADD's. And
zero ADD was NOT an option.

Am I asking too much for online sources? Can any of them do this?
Has anyone tried this before?

Do I either have to go back to storefront glasses (YIKES!), or use my
old method of the stick-on bifocal magnifier on single vision
glasses? I don't want to juggle a pile of glasses when hiking and
biking, and I have a HEAVY astigmatism as my main problem so cheapo
readers are no help. (Bad enough cylinder that $39Glasses thinks it
worth charging $59 extra for my -3.00 on one eye...but thats a whole
other thread)
