I'm impatiently waiting for my first pair of glasses in 10 years,
which I ordered from Zenni 17 days ago. I discovered this group and
I'm helping to pass the time by reading your posts - thank you all...

Anyway, I've been reading this thread with interest, since I've
ordered progressive/photochromic leses with AR coating - #4978. This
discussion scared me until I found this from allaboutvision.com:

"With sunglass lenses, an AR coating is better applied only to
the back surface of the lens (the surface nearest the eye). Because
sunglass lenses are so dark, the AR coating can wind up looking smeary
on the front surface. Coating the back side helps reduce the
reflections of light that enter from behind you and bounce off the
surface into your eyes. A back-side coated sun lens is much more
comfortable than an uncoated sunglass."

So I can now let the Zenni professionals do what they do best - make
great specs - and I will continue to count the days...

Thanks again for a very informative group of postings.
