Recently GlassesUnlimited.com ran a deal with One Sale a Day for $15 for a complete pair of glasses. Having shopped from Zenni and others, I figured I would try two and see how it goes. I ordered one full-rim and one rimless. My prescription is in the +/-1 range with minor astigmatism, nothing fancy.
Shopping experience was pretty good. Frames are not terribly well organized and each different color or size of the same style is listed independently, which makes browsing a bit tedious. Frame selection, however, was fantastic. I found at least 40 frames I would be happy to own and I tend to be rather picky. Cart, prescription entry, and checkout were excellent. You make an account and the first time you fill out a prescription you can save it to the account. Accounts can hold multiple prescriptions with different tags so you can easily shop for different family members, etc., without having to type in the same script multiple times. A nice feature. Order placed on July 22. Arrived August 3. Packaging on the good end for online glasses. Exterior is a light cardboard shell, like what checks come in. Inside that a light plastic bag containing a solid hard-shelled glasses case. Inside the glasses case was another light plastic bag containing a small baggy with spare screws and then the glasses themselves, which were wrapped in a lens cloth then wrapped in some cotton-type material. Both pairs of glasses were the inexpensive plastic lenses, but they look quite good. The rimless is smooth and symmetrical all the way around the edges. The frames on both are quite solid. Compared to other online glasses retailers I have used, I would rank them equal or even a little better than most. I like the frames I received a great deal. Overall, I would say this place will definitely get more business from me, especially if they have another great sale. Even at full price ($30) I would buy again. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Check us out at the oft-updated http://glassyeyes.blogspot.com!
