I have had pretty good luck with recent usage of the EyeBuyDirect "try
on" option, as long as I ONLY use it for the BASIC shape and size. I
eliminated a lot of possibilities by cranking through a bunch of
frames and discovering the shape just didn't work and in a few cases
it flagged me to glasses being too large or too small, which I then
confirmed with checking the measurements. But they do not give you any
idea of how the styling or color or arms will work.

And that is the critical point...check the measurments! And it does
help to have a previous pair of glasses to compare measurements.
