No. Polycarbonate does not have a particularly high refractive index,
so it does not make particularly thin lenses. Optically, it is just
about the worst lens material you could possibly use. But it is
tough, which makes opticians feel warm and fuzzy about their liability
risks; and it commands a price premium for some unidentifiable reason,
which improves opticians' bottom lines.

Avoid polycarbonate lenses unless you need high-impact safety
glasses. Remember there is no such thing as an unsafe lens material--
any kind of lens is more protective than no lens. A generation ago,
all safety glasses were made of real glass!

What the heck?! You have such a minimal prescription, your lenses
will be very thin regardless of material, unless the dispensing
optician is a nincompoop and specifies a heavy center thickness. Why
would it matter if there was a difference between the thickness of
your two lenses anyway? For you to have the same thickness for both
lenses would only mean that one was made unnecessarily thick just to
match the other.
