I am nearsighted and my scrip has been a consistent -1.75 in both eyes for over 20 years, no astigmatism. At home, I don't even wear glasses. Lately, when I do, however, I have to take them OFF to read, and my eyes are very red all day from going back and forth from the computer to the desk to the outside of my office. My glasses are making it so that I have a tough time reading, which is mysterious to me. Two eye docs in a row gave me a scrip for bifocals. The first pair had a +1.75 on the bottom. He said the top and the bottom have to be exact opposites so that I can read. It was like looking through the bottom of a coke bottle for me. I couldn't see near OR far with them. The second scrip which I just got is for +1.25 on the bottom. This eye doc said the first guy was wrong and that I needed a weaker positive on the bottom to "counteract" the negative on the top. Again, i cannot read with these things at all, and that was the point -- to avoid taking them on and off all day. After two disasters, I feel that what I really would benefit from is having NOTHING on the bottom -- no adjustment at all. Has anyone else had this problem? What did your eye doc recommend? I'm very disappointed! At least I didn't spend a ton of $$ buying these glasses from the eye doc!!
