I was excited to find this site now that my optometrist has forbidden me to wear contacts. However I'm a bit late because I purchased glasses from Wally World a few weeks ago. My prescription is rather strong, -4.25 and -5.25. I also have an astygmatism. I ordered semi rimless in hopes that the bottom lenses would blend in with my face. I was expecting the lenses to look thick from the side and they warned me that they might need to add thickness to fit the wire/string that holds the lens. Upon receiving my glasses my biggest disappointment is the view from the front. You can actually see a white line around the edge of the glasses. I had the edges polished, but not rolled. I believe this visible white "frame" around the lens is the fishing line (or whatever holds the lens!) I don't notice this on other people's semi rimless glasses. Is there anything that I can ask them to do to correct this problem or is this to be expected with my prescription?
Thanks to all of your advice I just ordered some rimless glasses from 39 Dollars. I'm hoping that they are more invisible when looking straight on. At their great price, it was worth a shot! Thanks in advance for any suggestions in regards to the semi rimless. -- Check us out at the oft-updated http://glassyeyes.blogspot.com!
