Good advice all around but this seems the most reasonable to me. The
difference of ADD values of .25 (3.00/2.75 and 2.75/2.50) isn't very
much. The practical effect of splitting the difference at 2.75 is that
your mother may have to hold reading material in a more tightly
controlled distance from her eyes than if she had the proper values in
each lens. I say this because when I get an eye exam the optometrist
asks me how far away do I want to hold things I'm reading? I give him
a distance and he adjusts the ADD value to compensate.
