The Department of Environmental Studies at Antioch University New
England invites applications for Chairperson. This role represents an
exceptional opportunity for a seasoned leader to join one of the
nation's preeminent programs in environmental studies and continue its
development as a nationally recognized center of interdisciplinary
learning, practice, and research.
Antioch University New England, located in the beautiful Monadnock
Region of southwestern New Hampshire, is one campus among five of
Antioch University. The New England campus enrolls more than 1,200
graduate students and the Department of Environmental Studies serves
over 300 master's and doctoral students through seven constituent
programs with a strong core faculty of twenty, and an exceptional
adjunct faculty.
The successful candidate must provide strong visionary leadership in an
atmosphere of shared governance to promote excellence in graduate
education, applied practice, research, and scholarship throughout the
department. The position requires (1) a doctorate in a relevant
disciplinary or interdisciplinary field, (2) experience as a faculty
member at a university or college, (3) academic leadership experience
including substantial personnel and budgeting responsibility, (4)
evidence of a commitment to diversity and inclusiveness, (5) strong
leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, and (6) ability to
foster and to maintain a positive and open relationship with internal
and external constituent and donor groups. The Chairperson reports to
the Chief Academic Officer of the New England campus.
The department Chairperson will serve as senior faculty in the doctoral
program and must have demonstrated excellence in teaching and
scholarship, understand the professional practice of environmental
studies, maintain an active research and publication program, and have
a background in the study or practice of interdisciplinary
environmental studies.
