I keep trying to wean myself off climate science, but I keep failing as miserably as I do trying to give up cigs.
I'm busy so this is a bit of a rush but... Changes in the pole-equator temperature gradient should also result from AGW, e.g. http://www.usatoday.com/weather/climate/2006-05-25-wider-tropics_x.htm "WASHINGTON - Deserts in the American Southwest and around the globe are creeping toward heavily populated areas as the jet streams shift, scientists reported Thursday." And here in the UK I think Scotland's precipitation has increased due to this effect. Also "Temperature Trends in the Lower Troposphere, steps for understanding and reconciling differences" by US Climate Change Science Programme. Table 1 page 5 is a powerful graphic showing the expected temperature changes in the atmospheric profile for various forcing agents. 8.95Mb pdf available here http://clima.casaccia.enea.it/ipcc/focalpoint/infoclima/2006/Report-US-CCSP.pdf Allowing for CFC driven cooling, which I think in terms of both altitude and lattitude demonstrably only accounts for part of the strato cooling, the observed profile changes fit enhanced GHG. My point is this. In my early 'conversion' from scepticism I used almost a medical approach, looking for a correlation of a wide body of observational evidence with the expected pattern of a 'pathology' of AGW. Has anyone done this on a more determined and fomal basis? Trying to determine what effects we should see from AGW and examining the evidence to see if it gives an indication. I know this is covered implicitly in the details of many reports. But is it available seperately, pared down to the specific details? I'm gonna be late. :( --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Global Change ("globalchange") newsgroup.
