It might be worth adding a bit of a disclaimer to the "About this group"
posting, to the effect that there is a certain amount of arbitrariness
in the decisions, and genuine mistakes can be made for a number of
reasons - at the worst extreme, Google's system doesn't even allow
reading of some messages (at least via my browser) prior to any decision
being made!
In the final analysis, it's only a mailing list. Feel free to overwhelm
the occasional dodgy message with interesting and constructive
contributions of your own - that's not merely a snark at John A for the
tone of his first(?) contribution but an open invitation to all readers.
