Nice to see that the Russians have discovered convection in the Troposphere. I wonder how long it will take them to learn about the emission/absorption properties of gases? For example, the outgoing energy absorbed by CO2 is then re-radiated in all directions, that is to say, downwards as well as upwards. More CO2 results in more downward radiation, a fact which their reference to black body emissions and Stefan-Boltzmann glosses over completely. Their analysis also completely ignores the Stratosphere!!
There's other errors as well, such as their insistence that the solar constant be divided by 2 instead of by 4 to compute the Earth's outgoing energy per unit area, which they claim is necessary since the axis is tilted. That claim ignores the fact that the atmosphere and oceans move considerable quantities of energy toward the polar regions, which compensates for the fact that there is no solar energy at the poles during the respective winter months.
