I'll suggest becoming a food and energy peasant. Grow your own
foods and biomass for biofuels. If you grow too much food, you
have the choice of selling it or converting it into biofuels. If
you grow too much biomass, then (if of the right kind, such as
tubers) you have the choice of eating it or selling it.
Enough people doing this ought to produce some stability.
