There is a new idea out on the cause of the Younger Dryas here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7808171.stm but like the idea of a pro-glacial lake decanting or of a Great Salinity Anomaly, this idea does not explain the abrupt warming which happened at the end of the Younger Dryas.
