The public sector power major, NTPC Ltd (BOM: 532555), will commission 17,800 MW power projects during fiscal 2012-13. The shares of the company took a spurt by a tad 0.12 per cent from the close of Tuesday, on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), while the markets reeled under selling pressure with benchmark index sinking in red in the morning trades.
The company has deployed Rs 280 billion into the 17,800MW power projects that are currently under construction, AK Singhal, director - finance, said. In the current fiscal, the company will commission 4,150MW power projects. NTPC will also invite bids for 11 units of 660MW each and nine units of 800MW each in 2010-11. The company currently has a generating capacity of 31,700MW and plans to be 75,000MW by 2017. NTPC has around 18 joint ventures in which would invest Rs 13.16 billion through equity contribution in 2010-11, Singhal said.
