Gettext needs users to compile php with specific option which can be worrying for some...
On top of that, I don't see how gettext could help this project much than a simple _("") function.
Could you explain me?

This seems to me more or less the method used by
phpgroupwar/egroupware.

but in here a function are used, the strings are saved on database and
the function lang() write the untraslated (english) stringwith an
asterisk, eg:

        lang('it', 'Printer')

return 'Stampante', or 'Printer*', so untraslated strings are marked
easily.


But i agree with glpi developer, if we have to change translation
technology, i think that we have to go to gettext.
