I'm not a developer nor a big contributor to GLPI, and i was one of the
flamers on this subject in the past, but really now i'm going back to
my foot...

Apart that MySQL 'suit better' around PHP, the management cost of an
MySQL installation are so little, counting also knowledge need, that
sometime the work to make an appalication portable it is not even
comparable.

I'm still a fan of Postgres (that use for all the rest, apart GLPI ;),
and still i think that writing up a webapp with multi-db support in
mind are better, but i'm not so 'religious' about that. ;)

If you need postgres support to postprocess tracking data with some
other financial/management software, consider also doing some script
that simply dump the mysql database in a postgres one at a regular
basis, this is, apart some minor drawbacks, completely doable and very
simple.
