J D, there is no difference between removing metal wings or fabric wings. Same procedure. You should have a good socket wrench set, a pair of dykes, a duck bill pliers, a screwdriver, a ball pien hammer, a large punch, and two sets of saw horses. Step 1. Remove the screws from the aluminum strips (fairings) that connect the wing panels to the center section, and then remove the fairings. Step 2. Disconnect the electrical connectors for the wing tip lights. They will be found near the trailing edge of each wing in the gap that was covered by the fairings that you removed. The connectors are usually knife connectors. Step 3. Disconnect the pitot tube and static tube from the left wing, also in the gap between the wing and center section. Not a bad idea to label which is which so you can connect them properly when you put the wings back on. Step 4. Remove the nut and bolt which connects the aileron push rod to the bell crank that is in the center section on each side. Step 5. Remove the cotter pins in the rear spar bolts and then remove the nuts from those bolts. Leave the bolts in the rear spar to keep everything in place. Step 6. Remove the cotter pins in the front spar bolts (they are large, and will probably require the use of a hammer and punch to bend them around straight so you can pull them out) and then remove the nuts from those bolts. You will want to have a socket wrench set with a 1" socket and a 1 1/16" socket, and a long handle for each. Leave the bolts in place until you have your helpers. Step 7. I like to use 3 people here, one on the leading edge at the wing attach point, one on the trailing edge at the wing attach point, and one at the wing tip. Drive the bolts out of the wing attach fittings with your hammer and punch while the wing tip person holds on to the tip. When the bolts are all out the wing tip person moves the tip up and down gently about 6" each way, and the other two people hold their parts of the wing. The tip person continues to move the tip up and down and presto, the wing is free. Set it down on a set of nearby saw horses. Have fun, Syd Cohen J D McCollum wrote: ----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- I need to know how difficult it is to remove the wings, metal, from the Coupe. I also need to know what type of tools is required. I have heard that it takes about 2 hours per wing plus 2 people. Any additional info would be appreciated.
