The main reasons I bought the Civic is that it looked like it
was pampered. The body was in great shape. And the interior
was spotless.

But after all the trouble I had with it, I think the odometer had
been turned back. Obviously I can't prove it, but that's my guess.

It was just a lemon, and the dealer (Lynch Chevrolet, Burlington
Wisconsin) was a &^%$ [EMAIL PROTECTED]

For comparison, after the Civic, I bought a 1981 Ford Fairmont
wagon with 120,000 miles. It had 182,000 when I sold it three
years later. While a little under powered with the six cylinder,
it never gave me any problems.

Then I bought a brand new, 1989 Mercury Tracer. Drove it 10 years
and put on 186,000 miles. The only thing I ever replaced, other
than normal maintenance items, was a leaky valve cover gasket.

Loved that car, but I just wore it out. The '99 Escort I have now
isn't nearly as good. (Though it ain't bad.)

One of the risks with used Hondas is that they HAVE been
super-neglected, cuz they put up with it.

Now a MAJOR risk is that it's been used as a street racer.
It wasn't back then, but it is now!
