Greetings all,
I am the owner of a '59 Forney with a C-90. Bought it in late October.
Today while I was preparing to fly I noticed a bit of an odd vibration at
low RPM. I let it warm up, did my mag checks which were pretty normal
(about 75-100 on one side, about 50 on the other) and took the active.
After applying full power, I glanced down at the gauges. Oil pressure at
about 40 (normal) and temp coming up (also normal); but I was developing
only about 2000 RPM (2475 is the max). I aborted. Went back to my tie
down, shut down. Checked the gas again, no water. Checked under the cowl,
nothing unusual. Fired up again, and still only 2000. Tried leaning it out
(thinking maybe there was carbon on the plugs or they were fouled). No
luck.
Any thoughts or ideas. The compression on the cylinders was in the high
70's when I bought it. There has been a little higher oil consumption than
I like (about a quart every 5 or 7 hours).

And a corollary, any one know of a mechanic that is in central North
Carolina that will come to Chapel Hill? This airport is owned by the
University and there is no FBO here (just some University mechanics).
Thanks for any ideas,
Ryan Wubben
