Hi Leslie:

I use Mo-Gas almost exclusively with excellent results. I have
maybe 250-300 hours of auto fuel experience on my Coupe
so far.

I have a supply of alcohol test kits from Sportys. I test each and every
load of gas I buy without exception. I always use Texaco which in
Washington State has no alcohol.

I use plastic 5 gallon containers which I place on the ground to fill then
tie
down in the back of my pickup truck. If plastic containers are filled in
the bed
of the pickup, ignition is possible due to static build up.

Also available from Sportys is a large funnel with a water and dirt trap.
A possibly better setup would be a funnel with a genuine chamois skin
placed across the opening as a filter. This will trap all water and dirt.
I used such a setup the three years I flew my Champ in Spain, but haven't
found a satisfactory funnel here. The disavantage to the funnel is that it
is difficult
to tell when the tanks are getting full and it is easy to spill gas.

I fly pretty frequently, so stale gas isn't a problem. Since the Reid
vapor
pressure of Mo-Gas is more conducive to carb ice, you must be more
vigilant. I have not found this to be a problem here in the Northwest.
But then I am habitually looking for ice to form<G>

My engine runs like a clock, I don't have to play games to get a good
mag check like many must do with 100 LL. My plugs are always in good
shape at annual. In short, I am convinced that the advantages of auto
fuel out weigh the disadvantages.

This is my experience and opinion. Yes the fueling is a bother, but on the
other hand when I come in on a Sunday and there is a 30 minute wait to
get fuel at the FBO---which is the worse bother???? <G>

Oh I almost forgot. Right now there is at least a buck a gallon difference
in price.

Cheers:

Paul
