1. Use a metal gas can. 2. Fill it only when it is on the ground, never in a vehicle, especially if it is on a pick-up bed liner. 3. Use a metal funnel and use safety wire to secure a chamois for a filter. 4. Rig up a wire with 3 branched ends and install small alligator clips on each end and attach one to the metal can, one to the funnel and one to your exhaust pipe to ground everything. If possible make a 4 ended wire and connect the 4th end to a metal stake that is pounded at least 2 feet into the ground. 5. Never add fuel to the airplane while it is inside a hangar.
