Yes, I know that EAA listed Ercoupes as planes that would qualify. They made a mistake in doing that. Here is the latest information from EAA: Hi Syd, After much searching, I finally found the reference on the Ercoupe 415C which lists the original gross weight. It's in Volume 8 of U.S. Civil Aircraft, compiled by Joseph Juptner. This reference lists the original specifications for Type Certificate A-718, in three different versions (original, as amended, and "post-war"). Here are the numbers, in that order: Gross Weight: 1125, 1175, 1260 Landing (stall) Speed: 37, 40, 48 mph Max Level Speed: 110, 110, 117 mph Original numbers were with Continental A-65-8. Post-war numbers were with the A-75-12. As I mentioned when we talked the other day, TC A-718 was amended to include all 415C aircraft at the 1260 gross weight, so as it stands today these aircraft will not qualify due to gross weight. And as you mentioned also, the landing (stall) speed is also above the 45 mph limit. As Paul Harvey would say, now we know the rest of the story. See you at Antigo!
