This could be a good deal for the Ercoupe Owners Club, Wayne.
I have admired the Luscombe folks for many years. They have
taken Positive Measures to preserve their planes. Examples:
* Parts Depot somewhere in the Arizona desert
* Purchased the Type Certificate from Univair
* Actually gotten the bird back in production
Us coupers haven't done squat.
Admittedly, the Luscombe is easier to build. It is essentially
bent up sheet. The Ercoupe has one specialized casting after
special extrusions after another.
We really should start stashing parts and getting fixtures
together. Univair is only in it until they dump all those parts
that were made by ERCO in 1946. They do not make the
wing tanks any more, I have heard, because their rivet squeezer
for that caliber broke and they do not want to spring for a repair.
So, Syd. Whaddya say? Your place big enough/cheap enough
to start housing this stuff? I've personally liked Roswell, New
Mexico as a stash my self.
