AOPA Pilot has a column this month with which I really identify. It's
Ron Machodo's column. About a friend who moved up through aircraft
until he ended up with a C-310. Then he quit flying, because it wasn't
fun any more. Ron persuaded him that he'd moved up because he'd
thought he was supposed to, not because it was more fun.

So the guy stepped down, and is having a ball.

I was thinking that that is a lot like I feel about the Ercoupe. Sometimes
I think that I *should* be looking to move 'up.' But the Ercoupes make
me so damned happy. I still end up chuckling as I hop out of one.

The other interesting article is the classic re-do of the 'make perfect
landings every time' standard. The usual advice about doing it the
same way every time, and stabilized approaches. A few tips that
were better than the usual run of such articles. But I wonder what
people do when there's a mountain in the way of doing it the same
way this time...
