It was not chosen so as to include (or exclude) any particular aircraft make or model. There is a slim chance, and I emphasize slim, that the weight limit might be raised by some small amount. For example, the Aeronca 11AC Chief that you mention has a gross weight of 1250. Raising the limit to 1250 might be doable, but we highly doubt it would be raised much beyond that limit. The FAA has indicated that it will consider detailed requests for adjustment of the weight limit. If you were to include in your comments the fact that a Chief is identical in all respects to a Champ other than the slightly higher gross weight, this might offer them a viable reason for raising the weight to 1250 or so. Again, we don't feel there's much chance of getting the limit raised much more than that. It can't hurt to make comment to that effect though. Thanks for your interest.
