I have the Airmap 100 and have been very happy with it.  The screen is on 
the small side, but the interface is very easy to use, and it certainly 
doesn't eat batteries as badly as the Garmin 195 I'd been using before I
got 
it.  Can't comment on the Garmin III; never used one.

I got mine on eBay for $450 about a year ago from an outfit that was 
clearing out overstock.  It came new, sealed in the box, with the software

upgrade, NiCad battery, power adapter, antenna, and power adapter for the 
lighter.
