I have the Airmap 100 and have been very happy with it. The screen is on the small side, but the interface is very easy to use, and it certainly doesn't eat batteries as badly as the Garmin 195 I'd been using before I got it. Can't comment on the Garmin III; never used one. I got mine on eBay for $450 about a year ago from an outfit that was clearing out overstock. It came new, sealed in the box, with the software upgrade, NiCad battery, power adapter, antenna, and power adapter for the lighter.
