Just for the sake of curiousity, if  someone was not intending to sell an
aircraft in the future what  would be the negatives of registering a
certified aircraft as an experimental?  How difficult would this be? How
might it impact insurance? Is this just  a dumb idea?

Perhaps someone who has owned or built an  experimental might share their
thoughts and experience with maintenence,  etc.
