----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any
advice in this forum.]----

I've been needing to make a set of these for my Coupe for some time and
finally should be able to get to it here in the next few weeks.

I already made a mold and a set out of fiberglass but wasn't pleased since
they tended to distort when screwed together and the edges were very tough
to keep together tight. It's funny too because this is the exact thing
that
happened with my original plastic ones- they warped.

I plan to make the next set out of solid red oak and then use my CNC
router
to mill the ":insides" out to clear the control wheel spokes and also the
metal hub. The front will be computer engraved with the Ercoupe logo and
the whole thing stained and finished with a gloss polyurethane. Should
look
very nice.

It will require a fair amount of setup and buying at least one new router
bit for the large edge roundover. Anybody interested in giving a firm
committment to order a set of these to help defer the costs? I'm thinking
I
can get them to Coupers for about $35 a set unfinished (need sanded,
stained, and finished) but only want to make 10 or so since I don't have
bunches of time right now. Oh, I could also engrave the front cover to
say
whatever you want (N-number, name, year and model of Coupe, etc) for an
extra $15.

Let me know via personal email if you're interested. Until my first set
comes out and I'm pleased (I'm pretty picky) then I won't take firm orders
but I would like to know if it's worth it to go ahead and start setting
this
up.
