Hello couper list,

after having to sell my restored G model I just couldnt stay away. After
overcoming some family financial hurdles I have purchased Jack Russell's
D model. I have a partner this time and I'm looking forward to being back
in the air in the finest personal plane built. I said personal because I
think the finest plane built was the F-4 Phantom.

Anyway, Jack has the wings off and I came out with my fiberscope from
work, (I work for an airline) and I did the inspection of the center
section. You have to use a guide tube, since the fiberscope is too floppy
to reach all the way to the point where the spar passes through the
fuselage. It is very easy to do and only took about 20 minutes to do the
whole thing. I also poked around at the front spar too. Nice and clean.

I think that a good preventive suggestion is that when the wings are off,
to use a pressurized container to spray some corrosion preventive
compound down inside the spar areas. This would preclude any further
corrosion from forming, especially the East coast wet climate coupes. A
20 dollar garden weed sprayer would work, since they have the extended
wand on the end, and the corrosion proof compound can be purchased
through chief aircraft or aircraft spruce pretty cheaply.

My partner has not signed up with the list yet, but he will. His name is
Charles Sasso- he is a commercial/instrument guy with 3X the flying hours
that I have, and he took one ride in Jacks coupe and was hooked! I will
let you guys know when he signs up.

Happy couping!
