Steve; It sounds like you enjoy your Coupe and plan to continue the same.

If your engine has been running with good oil pressure (at least 40
psi), I would recommend a top overhaul. However, splitting the cases and
putting in new bearings does not add that much more to the cost. But if
you need lifter bodies, they are expensive. When you have the cylinders
off, it is easy to look at the condition of the camshaft and lifter
bodies.
We have an excellent cylinder man located near here who I heartily
recommend. I recently completed a top overhaul on an engine which only had
about 350 hours since major. Unfortunately, when they did the major
overhaul, they only replace one piston. The total time was about 1300
hours, and the pistons were worn beyond service limits. I had the
cylinders NuChrome, brought to O-200 specs with 45 degree intake valves
for the 100 octane, and all new valve springs, rocker bushings ect. My
total cost including new pistons and rings for the chrome cylinders was
approximately $1600. (No labor charge)
C.E. Biter did the cylinder work, and he charges $99 plus his cost
for all the parts. His ad on page 137 in the 3rd July issue of Trade A
Plane even lists a toll free number for those living outside of Florida
888-314-8940. Email:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
      Good Luck
Lynn Nelsen
