Hello Everyone,

Finishing the annual on my Forney, and IA said pilot side control wheel
universal needed replacing. Was going to swap with passenger side (no
wear) but he wouldn't go for it. So, I ordered a new one from Univair
($179!!!). They said because of extra steering load that their part must
be used. OK. The universal is installed with tapered AN pins (hard to
find, but I found a supply at Spencer Aircraft, Seattle). HERE'S THE
PROBLEM: The universal came with wrong size holes (too small) and no
taper. It seems critical to match the tapered holes on the universal with
the tapered holes in the wheel shaft and control column to get a tight
press fit with no slop. Has anyone installed a universal having to drill
out the tapered holes to fit? How do you do that? Hand reemer or.....?
HELP!

Thanks all!
