If you've tried everything including baffling fixes, then . . .

Before considering spending $7,000 for a C-75, look into prices for
overhauled O-200 engines (or even not-overhauled O-200 engines from
airframe
damaged planes). See if you can find a mechanic with an O-200 and make a
deal.

Well Folks,

All the easy fixes have been tested/applied and the oil temp still goes
beyond redline in no time flat (20-25 minutes in flight). Haven't run in
on
the ground long enough yet to see how long that takes to redline, but I
don't think it really matters.

Anyway, the A&P says it is time to start tearing into the engine to locate
the problem. I have no idea as to what actions he should take first,
second, third... to look for the least expensive cost fix all the way to a
major overhaul. Any ideas would be apppreciated.

ALso, what is the conventional thinking on going with an engine
replacement
vs. teardown and overhaul of my engine. Folks have told me there are
refurbished C-75's around for $6,000 to $8,000 as to where a top will run
me at least $4,500 and a major at least $8,000 to $12,000. I am going to
make some phone calls starting tomorrow to verify the availability of
C-75's. Are these costs in the bounds of your own experiences?

Anyway, I know I have been asking alot lately, but would like to ask for
opinions, advice, and information from those who have been where I am now.
I am definitely going down a road that "I" have not been before.

Thanks,
