Ya gotta have radio contact with Portland Tower, Jan. I usually call over
Vancouver Lake. Traffic pattern's 1000 MSL, to the North of Pearson.
Yes, there is not much room. The Air Force sees the twin-tales and thinks

Sounds like Aurora. Big runway, right? Used to be a bomber base;
stopover going up to Alaska.
Lemme know when yer comin' to the Frozen North again. Maybe
you'll bring enough of that weather back for us to go flying.
