In General,
Gluster is designed for large environments - a lot of clients consuming data 
from a lot of bricks.If you need High I/O from a few Gluster nodes  - this 
would be quite difficult to achieve.
As others mentioned CEPH is a reliable solution with decent performance.
GAGAN, what are the I/O requirements that the application needs ?
