But the option to "Archive" messages is available from the "More" button.

(It annoys me too that Google decided to remove the "Archive" button under
certain circumstances, when I want to use it.  At least one can find
another way to archive messages, even if it is more tedious.)

The option to use the Archive button is not practicable, because the few

You can narrow your search.  When you click on a label to view just the
X-labeled items, the search box at the top says "label:X".  Type in the box
to add "in:inbox", so that you are now searching for "label:X in:inbox".  I
have found that doing this also re-enables the Archive button when you
select any of the messages.
