I didn't see anything in the link that said all email sent from people not
in your Contacts list is sent to spam.  Was it in one of the Comments?  (I
didn't read those.)  If that's what someone wrote, then yes, I contradict
that, and I know from years of experience that I am right about that.

NOTHING is "set it and forget it".  We like to think that every good backup
service is "set and forget", but honestly none of them is.  No matter what
you use, you need to periodically check that it is working.  Gmail is
certainly not "set and forget".  What if a hacker gets into your account
(by somehow gaining access to your password) and compromises everything?
 If you don't ever bother to check it, you wouldn't know.  There is no way
to guarantee that that couldn't happen.
