The only one?  Probably not, but I certainly don't.  What exactly is your
complaint about the compose window?  I see your message above mine right
now, or if I make it pop out, I can just expand the text below this with an
ellipses hiding it.

I believe Google Employees use GMail exclusively, so, yes would be the
answer to your second question.
