Same problem here too,
It seems to be related to the direction buttons on the keyboard. Instead
of the left key just moving the cursor, it also attempts to scroll the
whole page. This doesn't seem to be an issue if you are not using zoom. My
screen is far away and large so I use 175% zoom but if I go to 100% the
problem disappears.
I'm using IE and this is yet another incompatibility with google and
Microsoft. I'm assuming that when someone at google was "updating" gmail
code they didn't account for people who use a larger magnification, and
screwed up a line of code.

eg "if cursor is in reply box do not scroll page" !! :-)

It is the coders responsibility to code to the browser, making the program
compatible (HTML5) and update accordingly, not the other way around.
Probably the most used website in the whole world making simple oversights
like this is crazy. Someone needs to get fired!
