Google has been introducing a new Gmail login page. You may have seen it,
where the username/password fields are centered on the page instead of over
by the right.

It has a disturbing new
consequence
.

If:
  (a) You are using Google Chrome's "Incognito" mode, and
  (b) You leave the "Stay signed in" box checked,
then when you "log out" of Gmail you are still logged into
your account
!

Previously, when you had the "Stay signed in" box checked and you
explicitly logged yourself out of Gmail, you really logged out
of your account
.

That is no longer true.

Yes
you need to enter your password to continue the Gmail session ... but your
Username is left posted on the screen for anyone else to see!
And I am not too fond of something that leaves me logged in after I have
logged out, with no apparent way to get myself logged off, other than
closing Chrome.

So be aware of this, if you ever use a public computer and think you are
logging out.

Andy
