Firefox most definitely has a spell checker. Look under Options>Advanced>General, you will see the 'Check my spelling as I type' checkbox. Gmail's spell check does not work on the fly. That is a function of the browser. The Gmail one has to be invoked from the drop-down next to the 'Discard draft' (trash can) icon on the lower right of the compose window. Bob, you can modify your dictionary additions by simply opening the file persdict.dat in your Firefox profile directory with a text editor (eg.
