I had the same question(s) regarding "how to delete/discard a reply message 
that was created in error or no longer needed".  
Although the "Discard" button does exist - the icon mirrors that of the 
"Delete" button and by no means jumps out of the page at you (in response 
to Zack's condescending remarks).
Hopefully the design flaw will be addressed sooner than later.
