My target would be to be able to set up filters in order to
automatically archive INBOX messages to their respective folders that I
have created within Local Folders in TB. I have edited all the filters
using List-Id as filtering method (I'm subscribed to several mailing lists).
It works fine, all messages are archived in their folders, but the only
flaw is that I thought archived messages would have been deleted on the
remote (gmail) server. Instead they just don't have any label and are
put in the [Gmail]/All Mail folder.
I have unsubscribed from the All Mail folder in Thunderbird, so it
doesn't appear as folder in the client, but it appears on the web interface.
I know that in gmail, to effectively delete a message, it must be placed
in the [Gmail]/Bin and then deleted. And I know that if the filters move
the messages from the INBOX to the specific local subfolders within
"Local folders", they remains on the remote server under the All Mails.
On the gmail settings, under the "label" tab, there are System labels
where i can hide the All Mail label, but that wouldn't solve my problem.
There is also the chance to uncheck "Show in IMAP".
In the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" label there is When I mark a
message in IMAP as deleted:
I have checked Auto-Expunge off - Wait for the client to update the
server.
And in When a message is marked as deleted and expunged from the
last visible IMAP folder:
I have checked Immediately delete the message forever
Can anyone suggest/confirm if those are the settings to *automatically*
archive locally all incoming messages (this works) and *totally* delete
them wherever in the remote server?
