Here are some differences.

The *Gmail-Help Google Group* (this group) is both a web-based discussion
group and an email discussion group. Some members, such as yourself, may
post and read messages at the Google Group's webpage. Others, perhaps the
majority, may only ever read and post to the group via email.

The *Gmail Help Google Product Forum* is only a web based discussion group.
While members may select to receive updates to threads of interest or
threads to which they've posted via email, they can't then reply to those
posts via email. Instead they must return to the forum's webpage to post a
reply.

Email subscribers to the *Gmail-Help Google Group* will receive via email
every post submitted to the group.

Members of the *Gmail Help Google Product Forum* can select which threads
for which they want to receive email notifications but there's no means to
automatically begin receiving all posts submitted to the group via email.
They can also select in their general settings if they want to receive
notifications for things like "Send me an email if there is a status change
on my post or topic" or "Send me an email when somebody assigns a topic to
me." There are no options like this in Google Groups.

Posts/Emails submitted to the *Gmail-Help Google Group* are just individual
posts/emails. You can reply to them or not. That's about all you can do.

Posts submitted to the *Gmail Help Google Product Forum* can be voted on.
Readers can vote up replies by clicking on the +1 button at the bottom of
the post. Also, the person who started the thread/question submitted to
the group can select a "best answer" if they decide one of the replies is
most helpful.
