Just to recap, I changed my password at work, and made the same change to my corporate email address account on Gmail. Some mails sent from Gmail as skipm at trdlnk.com get where they are going, but some are rejected with SMTP AUTH failures.
Here's one DSN I received (changing my colleague's email to "somebody" and obfuscating the "@" sign, otherwise simply copied from the bounce message): Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: somebody at trdlnk.com Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the relay mailhost.trdlnk.com by mailhost.trdlnk.com. [66.227.18.110]. The error that the other server returned was: 334 VXNlcm5hbWU6 334 UGFzc3dvcmQ6 535 5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: authentication failure (SMTP AUTH failed with the remote server) Here are a few failures as recorded by our corporate mail server: root@scout:/var/log # grep SASL mail|grep google 2015-09-22T15:43:02.024660-05:00 scout postfix/submission/smtpd[62099]: warning:mail-ig0-f175.google.com[209.85.213.175]: SASL LOGIN authentication failed: authentication failure 2015-09-22T21:42:56.373276-05:00 scout postfix/submission/smtpd[29827]: warning:mail-io0-f175.google.com[209.85.223.175]: SASL LOGIN authentication failed: authentication failure 2015-09-23T10:20:34.821713-05:00 scout postfix/submission/smtpd[33946]: warning:mail-io0-f178.google.com[209.85.223.178]: SASL LOGIN authentication failed: authentication failure And a few successes: root@scout:/var/log # cat mail | grep google|grep sasl_method=LOGIN|grep skipm 2015-09-22T21:42:56.344812-05:00 scout postfix/submission/smtpd[29826]: 54263A1E7F: client=mail-io0-f171.google.com[209.85.223.171], sasl_method=LOGIN, sasl_username=skipm 2015-09-23T09:00:30.956370-05:00 scout postfix/submission/smtpd[23396]: E977EA1BC3: client=mail-ig0-f175.google.com[209.85.213.175], sasl_method=LOGIN, sasl_username=skipm 2015-09-23T10:01:24.326404-05:00 scout postfix/submission/smtpd[30558]: 4FAB1A1BCA: client=mail-io0-f178.google.com[209.85.223.178], sasl_method=LOGIN, sasl_username=skipm Other people at work who also use Gmail to read their company mail have encountered this problem at password change time as well. I went through it the previous times I updated my password, but the problem didn't seem to persist as long as it has this time.
