Imagine if they had hundreds of millions of people trying to call them. Their phone lines would melt. There are phone numbers to some Google offices but they probably do not send you to customer support. Maybe you can try again with the recovery steps. If your security information was up to date, or if you answer the questions correctly, it makes a big difference. It might have made the recovery instantaneous instead of taking days.
