Yes : for scalar datasets associated to points you can directly choose "Scaled 
sphere" in Tools->Options->View->Aspect->Point display. For datasets associated 
with other entities, select the appropriate "Dimension - n" in 
Tools->Options->View->Visibility->Element boundary mode. For non-scalar 
datasets, select a scalar representation (in Vector display or Tensor display).
