"Red Hat cannot seem to quite make up their mind on this." (in reference to Paul Lussier's question about what architectures does Red Hat support at this point). The real answer is "it depends", and it depends on what I call "universal lubricant" - money... A certain large, well-known, corporation with a certain well-designed 64-bit architecture had to pay Red Hat fairly significant sums (i.e., fully fund a couple of RH engineers as well as send one of their own engineers to cohabitate with RH in NC for several months) to get a recent release of Red Hat (re-)ported to their architecture. By the time that was released, the next i386-based release had been announced. The fact that it was in RH's best interests to work with said corporation to learn as much as they could about 64-bit porting issues in order to enhance their capabilities to support Intel's effluent is obviously beside the point. However, I specificially disclaim any role as spokesman for either organization; their records speak for themselves. A line from "All The President's Men" comes to mind - "follow the money"... Just my 20 millidollars' worth, Bayard _______________________________________________ gnhlug-discuss mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.gnhlug.org/mailman/listinfo/gnhlug-discuss
